Tate is fully accessible for all of the public. There is an endless amount of things to do at the Tate and the following events are designed for Deaf people to gain a better insight of what is going on.

BSL Talks
On the first Friday of each month we hold a BSL talk at 7.00pm Each month we pick a different theme, exhibition or artist. The talks are free and there is no need to book.

Lipspeaker Talks
On the second Friday of each month we hold a Lipspeaker supported talk at 7.00pm.
Every month we pick a different theme, exhibition or artist. The talk is free, there is no need to book. Notes are provided and portable induction loops are available for hearing aid users.

BSL Multimedia Tour
Tate Modern offers free handheld touchscreen devices which provide information in BSL on a selection of key artworks from the collection displays.

Information on the screen is delivered in BSL with optional subtitles.
The handset is available free from our Multimedia Guide desks on levels 2 and 3. A deposit item (for example, a driving licence or similar ID) is requested.

Join Chisato Minamimura as she leads a British Sign Langauge tour for Deaf visitors exploring the Performer and Participant display

BSL Tour: Dora Maar
Friday 6th March 2020 - 7pm - 8pm

Tate Modern

Deaf British Sign Language users are invited to join Edward Richards on a tour of photography and painting by Dora Maar

Dora Maar saw the extraordinary in the everyday. She created surreal photographs from the strange but everyday environments of inter-war Barcelona and Paris. We will describe her relationship with Picasso and the reasons behind her interest in recording portraits particularly of Blind street performers.
