Deaf Kidz International
DeafKidz International works to respond to the needs of the 20 million DeafKidz around the world - 80% of whom live in developing countries. We are about addressing the discrimination, marginalisation and isolation they experience. We also work with the parents of Deafkidz; their brothers , sisters and extended families.
As experienced development professionals our approach is based on partnership – working with and supporting local partners; indigenous led agencies, schools or informal groups.
Our work is encompassed in four key themes – DeafKidz Rights, Learning & Livelihoods, Appropriate Techno and DeafKidz Wellbeing. Our programmes, devised in partnership with our local partners, cross fertilise across these themes – making them unique, different and importantly – DeafKidz led!
A key part of our approach is to enable DeafKidz to establish and develop livelihoods – to help them earn a living. This in turn helps our Deafkidz overcome the marginalisation and associated poverty they face.
In resourcing our work we are proactively engaging the donor community. Articulating a powerful case for support to funding entrepreneurs and decision-makers . Stay tuned and see what we are doing!
