James Wolfe Primary School and Centre for the Deaf |
 |
The Centre for the Deaf offers provision for deaf children who mainly have severe to profound hearing loss and who demonstrate a strong visual language learning style.
Our Centre’s vision is to provide a full and rich language environment which will develop their skills in both British Sign Language (BSL) and English, thus enabling them to access all areas of the curriculum and the language of both the Deaf and hearing communities of the UK.
We believe that our centre helps make James Wolfe School Special. All children, hearing and deaf start to learn BSL in their nursery/reception classes and continue to have formal weekly BSL lessons right through Years 1 to 6. These lessons help promote Deaf awareness and communication for all. Our inclusive ethos promotes learning and respect for the differences between us all.
