Founded in 1927, SCoD and is the only Scottish umbrella body of organisations working with or on behalf of deaf people in Scotland. We collaborate with organisations throughout the Third, Public and Private sectors representing people who are Deafened, Deafblind, Hard of Hearing and Deaf.

We strive to ensure that deaf people in society have equal access and rights to active citizenship.

SCoD is a membership-based organisation the support, engagement and collaboration of all our members is essential to enable the organisation develop and improve, together we can support and do much more for deaf people living in Scotland.

We distribute information from the deaf sector through our member newsletters and bulletins, on the topic of deaf sector news and updates information on supporting individuals, training opportunities and events throughout Scotland and deaf people living in Scotland.
You can follow updates and join in with conversations through social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Joining SCoD opens up many opportunities for your sector; you will have the opportunity to participate, work together, network and share ideas with individual and organisational members, giving your organisation the opportunity to access information and data to support your own market research, which will enable individuals within Scotland.
Membership for organisations falls into two categories, Full membership and Associate membership.

1. Full membership offers organisations, full voting rights at National Council Meetings, eligibility to stand for election on SCoD board and organisational assistance.

2. Associate membership offers individual and organisation, attendance to National Council Meetings, assistance with self-evaluation and discounts to SCoD events.

Through SCoD, you can influence policy making in the Scottish Government, your organisation can work in partnership with other members through conferences and invitations to inter-sector and government networking.
