Harrow College is a Centre of Excellence for the Hearing Impaired - the only one in North West London.
The team of communicators support deaf and hard of hearing students in all classes. Also a range of support is available from learning advisors, peer mentors and the Study Plus Club which is run in the Learning Centre on each campus.
The Communication Support Unit provides support for students who are profoundly deaf, partially hearing or visually impaired. Each student will be supported depending on his or her individual need. Support includes sign language, note taking and lip speaking. The Unit offers one to one teaching support as well as access to a range of facilities to support student learning.
"Support for learners with disabilities, dyslexia or sensory impairments, particularly hearing impairment, is good" - Ofsted.
Our aim is to enable all deaf students to have an equal opportunity of access to all parts of college life, thereby achieving their maximum potential.
The Communication Support Unit runs a variety of courses for those interested in British Sign Language (BSL). Click here to view the courses.
