North East Deaf Women’s Health Group |
|
The DWHO is organised by and for women who use British Sign Language to share and access health information. We established the organisation originally on a regional basis as a Project in 1988 and became a national Organisation and registered Charity in 2000.
Our Northern Group is based at Gateshead Library (kindly offered by Gateshead Council) where we meet monthly, usually Saturday morning. The meetings are organised by Gillian Harrison, she is a Senior Clerical Assistant at Gateshead Library.
We are a self-help, volunteer group and raise own funding with raffles. Membership has grown since 1988. We invite volunteer presenters from various health organisations or with health related knowledge and skills.
We meet at Gateshead Central Library one Saturday a month to learn about health issues and to support each other with our health problems.
Time: 10am - 1pm in Wailes Room (at Gateshead Central Library) Address: Gateshead Central Library, Prince Consort Road, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear NE8 4LN.
