Hearing Impaired Resource Base in Enfield (HIRBiE)
We are Enfield’s provision for those deaf children who need signing support. and we are a total Communication provision, reflecting the children’s diverse communication needs. The children are supported in their mainstream class by experienced teachers of the deaf and Communication Support Workers. The deaf children are also withdrawn for speech and language work, specialist teaching and back-up work.
Most of the deaf children achieve Level 1 in BSL by the time they leave the school.
We run signing classes in BSL at Level 1 and 2, for the parents, children and staff involved in the school community.
